AIB studied 200 airport systems to create a digital transformation roadmap that will allow the eVTOL market operators to scale operations over time. This video demonstrates only a few of the initial systems required.
AIB continues to explore the future possibilities of monetising mobility solutions within the metaverse for digital twins and metaverse solutions. AIB stay innovative.
AIB demonstrated this functionality for UrbanAir-Port in Coventry. Flight information was displayed for passengers in the retail waiting area of the vertiport. A more detailed view was provided in the control room.
Normal and abnormal information is vital for the safe operation of both logistic drones and air taxis such as obstacles, flight path changes, vertiport outages, GPS information.
The single source of truth, a database which stores the vital information for delivery to other operational systems such as flight time information, aircraft status, VTOL stand status, billing and resource management systems.

Vertiport digital hardware infrastructure and integration is only one part of the digital ecosystem. Mobile apps such as E-Deliver are required to allow customers to book pick-up and delivery locations for logistic drones, select a provider and view cost variables. Real-time track and trace is required.
Mobile apps such as E-Finder are required to allow customers to select from various eVTOL air taxi providers and compare routes, timings and costs. An electronic boarding pass is produced and used for confirmation at the vertiport.
Travelling through a vertiport by air taxi is only part of the end-to-end journey. Customers will require mobile apps such as E-Connect to arrange onward journeys on different mobility such as electric road vehicles, e-scooters, e-bikes. Keeping a check on carbon emissions for the end-to-end journey will be key.
To facilitate the eVTOL market ground based infrastructure is required. This includes the vertiports but also the systems which manage them, allows for centralised command and control systems by operator, allows for integration and sharing of data between air taxi providers, vertiport owners, logistic drone operators, multi mobility providers, SMART city integrations as part of digital twins and inter-country integration.
